Joe Biden unveils James Webb space telescope's first full-color images

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope, the world's largest and most powerful space telescope, took off on Saturday on its mission to explore the universe for early stars and galaxies, as well as signs of life. It took off from the French Guiana Space Center on the northeast coast of South America on Christmas morning. NASA has until now used the Hubble Space Telescope for space information, but the James Webb Space Telescope is many times more powerful than the Hubble telescope. It cost $10 billion to build to launch.

The James Webb Space Telescope will travel 1.6 million kilometers, or four times as far as the Moon, to reach its destination. It will take a month to get there and then in the next five months its infrared eyes will be ready to start exploring the universe.

What did the NASA administrator say?

"It will give us a better understanding of our universe and our place in it, who we are, what we are," NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said earlier this week. However, he also cautioned, "When you want a big reward, you usually have a big risk."

Affected the launch for a week

Astronomers all over the world were eagerly waiting for the launch of this telescope. A last-minute technical glitch affected the launch for about a week, and then strong winds pushed it toward Christmas.

Warning given before launch

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson warned before the launch that 'more than 300 things could go wrong, causing the launch to stall. Officials said this week that there was intermittent communication between the rocket and the telescope.

The telescope is named after James Webb

As a successor to the older Hubble Space Telescope, the long-pending James Webb Telescope is named after James Webb, a NASA administrator in the 1960s. NASA partnered with the European and Canadian space agencies to build and launch this new seven-ton telescope, which thousands of people from 29 countries have been working on since the 1990s.

Discovery on the origin of the universe

Once the James Webb Telescope reaches space, it will try to look back 13.7 billion years to the stars and galaxies that formed during the early stages of the universe's formation. The James Webb Telescope is also called the man-made time machine on Earth, as it aims to explore the origins of the universe.

The scientists hugged each other

The people in the control room wore Santa hats. After the launch of the telescope, the center erupted in applause and excited scientists hugged each other. They were shouting the name of the telescope, “Go Web.” Arianespace CEO Stephen Israel said after the launch, “We launched for humanity this morning.” The telescope has many instruments and is also equipped with a gold-plated mirror

The best technological eyes ever created by humans

The telescope will continue to operate for the next 10 years. However, this telescope has enough fuel that it can operate for up to 20 years. This telescope will search for galaxies, asteroids, black holes, planets, alien planets, solar system, etc. present in the distant depths of the universe. These eyes are the best scientific eyes ever made by man.

Three agencies jointly built the telescope

It is jointly developed by NASA, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency. NASA's new telescope has a golden mirror, which is about 21.32 feet across. The mirror is made by joining 18 hexagonal pieces of beryllium. Each piece is coated with 48.2 grams of gold to act as a reflector.

The telescope was launched on April 24

This telescope is quite different from the old Hubble. Unlike Hubble, when a malfunction occurs, it can be repaired from Earth. On April 24, 1990, NASA launched the powerful Hubble Telescope into space. After being there for about a month, Hubble opened its eyes for the first time on May 20, 1990, and sent a picture of part of the sky from space.

Launched in 2021

Let us tell you that the world's largest telescope in the space sector, the James Webb Telescope, was launched by the US space agency NASA on December 25, 2021. It was launched to reveal the secrets of deep space. Jonathan Gardner, Webb's deputy senior project scientist at NASA, has said that the James Webb Space Telescope can also see the immediate aftermath of the Big Bang. It can do this by looking at the galaxies present in the distant universe.
